"Prior
to joining MedData in September of 2007, Doug spent his 25 year career
in the technology, software, and services businesses with his most
recent 15 years focused in executive leadership for companies providing
billing, collections, and customer care.
He has been the President
of the Electronic Commerce Division and Senior Vice President of
Customer Operations / Sales of DST Output (OTS),
a public company providing paper and electronic bill statement
outsourcing for over 150 million bills and statements per month; Chairman, CEO and President of
Avolent, Inc.,
a private company providing enterprise software solutions for
electronic bill presentment and payment and interactive customer care; President and COO of NWP
Services, a private Billing Services Company; and Chairman and CEO of Open-c
Solutions,
a billing and customer care services company. In addition to these
formal positions Doug has provided executive consulting and leadership
for several of the premier billing and collections companies in the
United States.
Ann Barnes initially joined
MedData as Vice President of Client Services in November 2008. Her
expertise in integrating client services in a myriad of industries was
recognized, and she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in August
2009. Her dynamic career spans more than 21 years in sales, client
services, operations and marketing in both startup and mature
companies. Her keen ability to integrate large teams has fueled her
success in driving revenue, operational excellence and geographic
growth throughout the country.
Most recently Ms. Barnes was the
Executive Vice President for the student loan division of Wachovia.
Prior to that, she led a national sales force for New Horizons Computer
Learning, the world’s largest computer training company, which resulted
in increased revenue in the first 18 months from $12 million to $44
million. Previously, Ms. Barnes held leadership roles with Avolent, an
enterprise software solution for electronic bill payments. She began
her career with Xerox Corporation in the mid 1980s, where she was
progressively promoted through the central and western regions until
the time of her departure as the Vice President, General Market
Operations, Western Region in December 2000. Ms. Barnes is a graduate
of the University of the Pacific.
David
was appointed CFO of MedData in March 2008. David’s career includes
more than 15 years of health care industry experience, and over 20
years of senior level financial management. As a senior financial
executive, David has expertise integrating information technology with
innovative business strategies, building successful organizations,
financial control and business process improvement. His career is
characterized by a high level of success in managing new ventures,
post-acquisition integration and rapid change and sales growth
management
David
came to MedData from U.S. HealthWorks Medical Group, a California-based
company that specialized in the delivery of workers comp and emergency
medicine. Serving as Senior Vice President and CFO; David was a
strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team.
Before
U.S. HealthWorks, David spent nine years at Kaiser Permanente, the
nation’s largest HMO, where he served as National Vice President of
Patient Billing Services and Controller of the California Division.
David is a registered Certified
Public Accountant and a graduate of Ohio State University.
Joe began his career as a
Certified Public Accountant with Arthur Young & Company. He
served as a Manager in their Pittsburgh and National Offices before
moving into banking and investment banking. He joined Anthem, Inc. in
1993 to help in their diversification plans, where he founded and
managed one of the larger medical coding and billing companies in the
industry. With several partners, he left Anthem to acquire and manage
Summit Health Care Services and nurtured it into one of the premier
industry participants focused solely on Emergency Medicine. When Summit
was sold to MedData, Joe became the National Director of Sales
& Marketing. He is a graduate of The George Washington
University in Washington, DC.
Matt
E. Hartzler MBA, FACHE Vice President of
Operations matth@meddata.com
Matt Hartzler joined MedData in
November of 2009. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the company with
his varied experiences in healthcare revenue cycle management. Over his
17 years of healthcare experience, Matt has primarily focused his
career on operations, business process management, automation of the
revenue cycle management process and strategic planning.
Most recently, Mr. Hartzler lead
the project for a Colorado hospital in building a state of the art
emergency department. In addition to his revenue cycle and operations
background, this emergency department experience has allowed him an
understanding of the workflow and the provision of emergency medicine.
His previous positions within the industry include Vice President of
Strategic Planning and Physician Services at Longmont United Hospital,
Vice President of Operations for Integrated Financial Systems and
Director of Revenue Services for Exempla Healthcare.
Mr. Hartzler holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in Health Care Management, a Masters of Business
Administration and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare
Executives.
Dr.
Hallet Watz MD, MDA, FACEP Chief Medical

Dr.
Hal Watz is on the executive committee of MedData and serves as Chief
Medical Officer. Since 1987 he led the billing, coding, and collection
operations for Peak Emergency Medical Billing (PEAK) where he grew the
business to be one of the premier billing companies in the Southwest
United States. When PEAK was purchased by MedData in May of 2008 Dr.
Watz joined MedData. He is also the president and a practicing
emergency medicine physician for Front Range Emergency Specialists. Dr.
Watz utilizes his unique experience in both medicine and billing
management to provide strategic direction for the company as well as
drive tactical programs to optimize receipts and provide critical
reporting and practice management information for our clients.
Amy
has over 10 years experience in Human Resources management in a variety
of industries, including software, telecommunications, finance and
healthcare. Her specialties include designing, developing, implementing
and managing a variety of compensation tools (short- and long-term
incentives, stock options, restricted stock, etc.), job evaluation,
compensation administration, performance management, and employee
benefits.
Amy is certified
as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through the Human Resources
Certification Institution (HRCI) and is a Certified Compensation
Professional (CCP) through World at Work Society of Certified
Professionals. Amy is an active member of the Lake Washington Chapter
of the National Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management
(SHRM).
Sue
Chilson is responsible for day-to-day operations and the strategic
vision of MedData’s Information Technology group. The technology team
is committed to building and enhancing a world class information
delivery architecture that proactively meets client needs and promotes
the achievement of MedData’s strategic goals.
Sue has over 20 years of management experience in the fields of health
care and banking, and has specialized in technical management for over
15 years. Sue’s past positions include Vice President and Senior
Technology Manager, Global Corporate Systems, Bank of America, and IT
Manager of Government Systems, Premera Blue Cross. Additionally, she
has an extensive project management background directing medium to
large technical efforts such as software conversions and system
implementations.
Sue is a graduate of the University of Montana and has received the
Advanced Project Management Certification (APMC) from the Project
Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading not-for-profit
professional association for project management
